Indigenous Relations

ServcoCanada is involved in the business of construction and commercial industrial projects including Site Environmental Services, Site maintenance, Materials & Equipment Transportation. As well as Piping, Millwrighting, Welding Fabrication, Ironworking, Machining, Crane Services, Electrical Contracting, and Commercial Maintenance. ServcoCanada has partnership agreements with many indigenous groups in the northern region of Canada.

At ServcoCanada, our goal is to provide opportunities to First Nation, Metis, and Inuit communities through direct hire as well as joint venture partnerships. A variety of services are necessary for every project located in First Nation communities and on their traditional territories. This provides a wide array of training and professional employment opportunities for community members.

We believe that responsible business activity involves meaningful inclusion and a deep respect for Indigenous cultures and values. Trust is not something that we take for granted. We take the time to earn it by making good on our commitments and working directly with the leadership of communities beyond our construction expertise.

Servco respects the rights, cultures, interests, and values of Indigenous Peoples and is committed to building strong and lasting relationships that help us understand each other’s perspectives and priorities.

ServcoCanada is committed to:

  • Acknowledging and respecting the social, economic, environmental and cultural interests of all Indigenous Peoples and their rights as articulated and defined within provincial, national and international laws.
  • Clearly identifying and fully understanding the interests and perspectives of Indigenous Peoples regarding the regional projects and its potential impacts.
  • Engaging and consulting with Indigenous Peoples in a fair, timely and culturally appropriate way through the project cycle. Engagement will be based on honest and open provision of information and in a form that is accessible to Indigenous Peoples.
  • Build cross-cultural understanding: for company personnel to understand Indigenous Peoples’ culture, values and aspirations, and for Indigenous Peoples to understand a company’s principles, objectives, operations and practices.

Involvement & Indigenous Relations

Initiatives that focus on youth mental health, education and skill development through partnerships with Live Different (www.livedifferent.com), and by developing our own apprenticeship programs are among some of the ways we demonstrate our commitment to the communities where we work.

Involvement in Project Development

In 2018, Indigenous businesses, communities, and organizations will continue to demonstrate their vital importance for the development of strong communities and for the future of a sustainable Canadian economy.

In an effort to help make informed decisions about becoming more involved in projects requiring mechanical and electrical service, we are excited to announce the launch of a new website that will assist Aboriginal communities, businesses, and organizations. We are committed to being the industry leader for Indigenous inclusion in the energy sector.

Please do not hesitate to contact us to learn how your community or business can become more involved in projects on your traditional territory.
