The Keeyask Project is a 695-megawatt (MW) hydroelectric generating station being constructed near Gillam, MB that is being developed in a partnership between Manitoba Hydro and 4 Manitoba First Nations. Manitoba Hydro approached BBE with the proposition of engaging DMS as the ServcoCanada company is one of its preferred contractors. DMS was ultimately selected in large part due to its extensive quality control program. The relationship between the BBE and DMS has since continued to evolve and DMS was further awarded the project of exposed piping through the dam site, with a completion expected in 2021/22. ServcoCanada was engaged as a subcontractor to the (GCC) general civil contractor BBE Hydro Constructors for the scope of Supply, Fabrication, and Installation of Process and Services Systems.
Overview
- The ServcoCanada scope of work for this project included the supply, fabrication, and installation of process piping and insulation for the embedded and exposed pipe. Piping included internally engineered support structures for all embedded piping.
- At project completion, over 23,000 meters of installed piping is anticipated; 16,648 meters of piping has already been installed to date. DMS has also currently logged 377,203 hours on-site without any lost time due to incident.
