Locomotive Frame Retrofitting
ServcoCanada Ironworkers and Journeyman Welders have been hard at work retrofitting close to 750 locomotive frames from direct current traction motors to accommodate alternating current traction motors.
The scope of work includes stripping all the units of brake assemblies and other components, various gouging and grinding tasks, fabrication of layout u-slots, dog bone brackets and other components, various welds, inspection, stress relieving, sand blasting, and painting.
With an in-house inspections division and heat-treating oven, ServcoCanada self-performed almost the entire retrofitting process at our head office just outside Winnipeg, Manitoba.
