ServcoCanada is seeking an experienced CNC Plate & Pipe Processing Operator to operate a Lincoln Electric Vernon pipe cutting machine and a Machitech Diamond Cut CNC in our Winnipeg, Manitoba fabrication facility.

As a valued member of the team, your core responsibilities will include:

  • Machine Setup and Operation
  • Load raw materials into CNC machines. 
      • Install and secure tooling, fixtures, and workpieces. 
      • Start, stop, and monitor machine operations. 
      • Select and load the correct CNC program for the job. 
      • Verify machine settings, speeds, and feeds. 
  • Setting the correct gas pressures, tip sizes, and travel speeds for oxy-fuel, or the correct arc voltage and compressed air settings for plasma.
  • Production Monitoring
      • Observe machine performance during operation. 
      • Ensure parts are produced according to specifications. 
      • Detect machine malfunctions or tooling issues. 
      • Make minor machine adjustments to maintain quality and productivity. 
  • Quality Control and Inspection
      • Measure finished parts using precision instruments.
      • Compare dimensions against engineering drawings and tolerances. 
      • Document inspection results and production records. 
  • Reading Technical Documents
      • Read and interpret blueprints and drawings
  • Understanding of metal grades, thickness, and tolerances
      • Engineering drawings 
      • Work orders 
      • Manufacturing specifications 
      • Quality standards 
  • Tool Maintenance
      • Replace worn or damaged cutting tools, torch maintenance and tip cleaning.
      • Perform routine machine maintenance and cleaning. 
      • Report equipment defects or maintenance requirements. 
    • Safety Compliance
      • Follow workplace safety procedures. 
      • Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE). 
      • Maintain a clean and organized work area. 
      • Follow lockout/tagout procedures where required. 
  • Additional Responsibilities May Include:
    • Edit CNC programs at the machine. 
    • Set machine offsets and tool compensation values. 
    • Troubleshoot machining issues. 
    • Assist with machine setup and changeovers. 
    • Optimize cycle times and machining processes. 
    • Assist with offloading and loading materials using a forklift or overhead crane.

  • Support the Project Manager and construction team throughout all phases of project execution.
  • Build, maintain, and update detailed project schedules with real-time accuracy to support engineering, procurement, fabrication, construction, and commissioning activities.

  • Track and maintain logs for RFIs, change orders, submittals, and other key project documentation.
  • Coordinate and follow up on project deliverables to ensure materials, equipment, resources, and documentation are available to meet project objectives.
  • Review and analyze project reports, cost-to-complete forecasts, and schedule performance metrics to identify risks and opportunities.
  • Support project meetings by preparing agendas, documenting action items, and following up on outstanding tasks.
  • Assist with project closeout activities and provide additional support to the Project Manager as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications for the successful candidate include:
