K+S Potash Compaction Upgrade

Project Overview

KDC/Servco Ventures, ServcoCanada’s Joint Venture partnership with Kawacatoose First Nation, completed a multidisciplinary compaction upgrade as part of a major planned plant outage during the Summer of 2026. One of many projects executed at the Bethune mine site by ServcoCanada, the work required extensive pre-outage planning, detailed work packaging and close coordination with the client’s operations, engineering and project teams.

The entire Total Outage scope was completed four days ahead of schedule and under budget, with 100% quality turnovers and zero lost-time incidents.

Scope of Work

ServcoCanada’s scope included upgrades, modifications and installation work involving:

● Conveyors and chutes
● Structural steel
● Dust collection systems
● Piping tie-ins and re-routes
● Electrical system installs
● Instrumentation and controls

The work was executed within an operating plant environment, requiring careful coordination around lockout/tagout windows, live operational conditions and multiple concurrent trade activities.

Planning and Outage Execution

The project encompassed approximately 40,000 work hours across the pre-outage and Total Outage phases.

Detailed scheduling and work packaging established a practical execution plan capable of adapting to changing field conditions. Shift-level reporting, field coordination and an actively maintained Outage Control Board gave project stakeholders clear visibility into progress and allowed emerging issues to be addressed quickly.

ServcoCanada’s millwright, electrical, ironworker and pipefitter crews worked alongside insulation, scaffolding and specialized subcontractor teams to close each scope within the planned outage window.

Engineering maintained timely responses to field RFIs, while the quality and safety teams upheld project standards across 316 activities.

Project Results
